Last week, we were informed directly by an LG spokesperson that the LG G3 was in line for a swift Android 5.0 update.
Now LG has officially confirmed that this update will be arriving, and even sooner than we anticipated.
In fact, Android 5.0 Lollipop will start rolling out to the manufacturer's LG G3 flagship phone this week, starting in Poland, and followed by other key markets "in the near future."
"LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, LG's mobile chief. "The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is."
Last week, LG product marketing manager Shaun Musgrave said how LG has been able to get Android 5.0 Lollipop up and running on its devices so quickly. "Because we have a good relationship with Google – and bearing in mind we have two previous devices with them – naturally we would get the ASOP a little earlier than most," he said.
The LG G3 is most notable for supplying a large-screen (5.5-inch) QHD display to the market almost six months before Google's own Nexus 6. As such, those looking for a more affordable Nexus 6 alternative might want to give it some consideration - particularly with Android 5.0 Lollipop soon to be on board.
